Author of the Allowed to Say NO! Series Lady B Spots Trouble Lady B’s Safety School Lady B to the Rescue
Ralph F. Frank has worked as a social worker, a registered clinical counsellor, and an educator for over 40 years, specializing in sexual abuse. He has been part of numerous teams developing innovative programs in sexual abuse counselling, prevention, and social service delivery as well as training counsellors and educators in the field. Ralph lives on Vancouver Island.
These books grew out of a pilot project, the Sharing Safety Program, that Ralph developed in school district 68 on Vancouver Island. Over a 4-year period, Ralph went into Kindergarten through grade 7 in one elementary school to teach safety skills about how to deal with inappropriate touch. Using stories, skits, role playing, songs, exercises, puppets and colouring pages, he created entertaining ways of teaching important life lessons. The primary students were so excited by these classes that the teachers would joke that Ralph was the rock star of the school (even if he couldn’t carry a tune). This project was so successful that the school district invited the Sharing Safety program to train their school counsellors in this unique approach.
